Acute Zonal Occult Outer Retinopathy (AZOOR) is a rare condition of unknown etiology that typically manifests itself by asymmetrical visual field loss, persistent photopsia projected in the visual loss zone, acuity reduction and often, with widespread photoreceptor dysfunction on the electroretinogram (ERG).

This disease affects young to middle aged patients, and woman are more affected that men. Some patients have antecedent viral-like illness.

In the majority of patients, the retina recovers over a period of one to three years, but in some cases, permanent vision impairment may occur.
