Proliferative diabetic retinopathy in a 29-year-old female patient, with diabetes diagnosed 17 years ago, showing severe neovascularization of the disc and retina. HbA1c=8,1%.

Fundus photograph 3 years after surgery in same case. Fibrovascular tissue was removed and laser theraphy was made. Note the optic disc pallor, arteriolar sclerosis and ischemic maculopathy. HbA1c=8,4%.
